ok so i've tried a few different brands / types of red dye. first of all, live colour XXL is shit. no pictures of that cos they suck.
semi permanents are the only way to have super bright hair. just needs to be applied over bleached hair for the best result...
Reviews
- Vampire Red - Quite a pinky red and will stain clothes & skin if you have wet hair (washes off though!). Overall a nice colour but doesn't stay red long enough for my liking. 3 stars!
- Poppy Red - This one is my favourite. It's quite cheap (cheaper on glitterstore.co.uk) and gives a nice red colour. Bad thing is it also seems to go pink when it fades which is frustrating! 4 stars
- Fire - only had this 1 day and haven't washed it yet so we'll see! I had just bleached my roots before applying and it has made my roots a very bright pink and i'm not too sure how this will last.
- Wella Colour Touch - this was recommended by the woman at sallys. it was very expensive (£10) and you also have to buy cream peroxide to develop the colour which is about £1 for 100ml. Very complicated compared to other colours. You have to mix a certain amount with peroxide (20ml of peroxide for 10ml of colour). The woman at sallys said i would only need 10ml of colour. As it is a 60ml bottle i thought this would be good value for money as she also said it would last over 15 washes. I actually needed 30ml and only just had enough. It also started to fade after only 3 washes to a gingery red. Peroxide also damages your hair long term so not good as i would have to use it every week. Not impressed and will not be using this again! 1 star.
